About Us

We enable kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with life skills curriculum, we create learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids carry to everything they do.

Impacting the lives of young people through golf

In June, 2008, First Tee of Yakima began operating at two golf courses in Yakima: Suntides Golf Course, an 18 hole, par 70 course, with a complete practice area, and Fisher Golf Course, a 9 hole, par 3 course, which also offers practice chipping and putting greens. Beginner classes were also held at Kiwanis Park using “SNAG” introductory golf equipment. The following summer, several other Yakima city parks were added to the program.

During the summer of 2019, First Tee of Yakima expanded to include Douglas and Chelan Counties.  As part of this expansion, our name changed to First Tee – Central Washington to better reflect the region our program serves. We also offer multiple events in both Wenatchee and Yakima Valley.

In Yakima County, we are currently offering programing at our learning center at SOZO Sports Park, Fisher Park, Westwood Golf Course, Golf Habitat, Mount Adams Golf Course in Toppenish, Black Rock Creek in Sunnyside and Henry Beauchamp Community Center Park.

Thanks to our expansion we also offer programing at Three Lakes Golf Club in Malaga, just outside of Wenatchee, in Chelan County, Highlander Golf Course in East Wenatchee, Rock Island, and Mount Cashmere in Cashmere, WA.

Our program is open to youth ages 5 to 18, and we provide all necessary equipment.  Full scholarships are also available for any child in need.
